Before
each parent/teacher conference, I ask my students to think of
one or two goals they would like to work on for the next grading
period. To help remind them of their goals, I buy the round, fuzzy
pom pom balls from the craft store and wiggly eyes. My students
then turn them into little furry creatures by attaching the wiggly
eyes, and feet and hands made from construction paper. They then
write their goal(s) on a slip of paper and attach the slip to
the creature. I have all the furry friends sitting on a table
when I meet with the parents. They take their creature home that
day and put it in a place where they will be reminded in a fun
way of what they're working to achieve!
