TEACHER TIPS/FIRST DAY
Post Cards to Help Master Basic Skills

Submitted by: Dana White

I send my new first grade students several post cards over the summer with ideas of things they could be doing at home to prepare for school. I include basics such as, "Be sure you can count from one to one hundred," and "make sure you can tie your shoes without help."

They love to get mail and the few cents it costs to mail each card pays off big time when the students arrive with basic skills mastered! (I use standard card stock and get four cards
out of each sheet.)
