Birthday Box

Submitted by: Rebecca Grover

I HAVE A LARGE BOX THAT I ACQUIRED AT A GROCERY STORE. I WRAPPED THE BOX IN BIRTHDAY WRAP AND FILLED IT WITH ALL SORTS OF ODDS AND ENDS (MOSTLY DOLLAR STORE ITEMS). ON THE FRONT OF THE BOX IS A CHART OF CLASSROOM BIRTHDAYS. THE STUDENT CHOOSES AN ITEM FROM THE BOX ON HIS/HER BIRTHDAY. IF IT'S A WEEKEND THEY CHOOSE FRIDAY OR MONDAY. AUGUST STUDENTS CHOOSE IN SEPTEMBER AND JULY STUDENTS CHOOSE IN JUNE. BY THE END OF THE SCHOOL YEAR, ALL OF THE STUDENTS HAVE A GIFT FROM ME. I SOMETIMES SOLICIT IDEAS FROM THEM ON THE TYPE OF THINGS THAT THEY LIKE. THE STUDENTS ARE ALSO ALLOWED TO MAKE DONATIONS TO THE GIFT BOX. NO ONE GETS TO SEE INSIDE THE BOX UNTIL IT'S THEIR TURN. THE MYSTERY IS PART OF THE DRAW.
