Spider Web Art

Submitted by: Ann Burchard
From: San Diego, CA

Date Submitted: October 12, 2005

Use black construction paper, white Elmer's glue and glow in the dark plastic spiders.

After I teach the poem:

1 Little
2 little
3little spiders,
4 little,
5 little
6 little spiders,
7 little
8 little
9little spiders
10 little spiders spinning webs.

or can use Eensy Weensy Spider
or any other spider poem.

Students create a web by swirling, zig-zagging, criss-crossing white Elmer's glue on black construction paper. Glue 1 spider on the web. Attach or have students write/copy poem onto the bottom.
I've also had students write facts about spiders-we study NON_Fiction/Information books during Reader's Workshop at this time.
